This site never really took off because I’ve not had the time to write anything for it even though I’m still brimming with ideas. Consider this site dead. My personal blog is being maintaned much better though, and features information about various active geeky projects. This domain will probably be recycled for something else (eventually).

Grey Day is the annual celebration of Grey College, Durham University, held on the first Saturday after the main exam period. This is a small gallery showing just some of the equipment. There was a lot more on the day! There wasn’t much construction involved with this event.
I’ve come across this cool tool called Sketchup, now owned by Google, which allows you to quickly ’sketch’ 3D models.
There are unending applications for such a piece of software, including allowing events designers to explore their creations. Oh, and by the way it’s free! Additionally there is a commercial version which is more geared toward professionals.
An idea for venues would be to recreate their spaces in such a package, allowing clients to start off with a basic structure and build in what they want for their event.
You can find it at http://sketchup.google.com/
This site is now on it’s own server on a nice fast net connection. Now all I have to do is get up to speed with all the content I’ve been intending to write.

BallTech TV experimentation
Published by killswtch August 29th, 2006 in Software and Audio/video. 0 CommentsWork has essentially started on the development of BallTech TV. This weekend I’ve been researching into various video libraries that could be useful, and been experimenting with the Orite IC301 network camera that I posess. I have also found a bargain Media MVP box on ebay which will be used for video output experiments. More details will appear on this site too, which will hopefuly explain what I envision for the system.
